So again, its been a few days since I updated the training blog here. I think part of the reason I’m not as faithful updating right now is because i’m really not marathon training. My start date for the next training cycle is November 20th .. 18 more weeks of training for the Ocean Drive Marathon on March 25,2007.

I’ve been complaining about some pain in my right foot, which seemed to be isolated to my third toe from the big toe (well I guess its three from either side 🙂 ). Anyway, I first thought that I had a stress fracture going, but there is no signs of that. I then did some researching and found a condition called metatarsalgia, which is basically an inflammation of the ball of the foot. The symptoms and causes seemed consistent with what I was feeling, and actually in the last two days, it was painful, even when I got up in the morning. Its weird though that its started to subside after my run yesterday. I have been icing it, taking ibuprofen, elevating it and using a shoe insert now to take some of the stress off the ball of my foot. I’m not entirely convinced that this is the issue though since it really seems isolated to that toe.

My big concern was that I was going to be out of training due to the pain, but I think I can get through since the pain has technically gone away. We’re going to take it somewhat easy though in the next couple days to ensure there isn’t a bigger problem.

I intend to register for the spring marathon today, and get my hotel arrangements. I have to check with the wife to see where she and the family want to stay, because unfortunately, there are NO hotels worth staying at in Sea Isle City, so they won’t see me finish. My guess is that they will want to stay in Wildwood .. so we’ll see. I certainly don’t want to stay where I did last year (in Atlantic City), that was a mess and a long ride to the race in the morning.

I’ll keep the updates coming as fast as I can. I started doing an additional set of Pilates exercises, so i’m a little more sore today than normal, I hope that helps me in my running.
