I wrote yesterday that you can tell its hard-core marathon training time, and I can say that i’m among the ‘tired’ and ‘sore’ as of right now. I did my longest mile week this week, completing a 12 miler (at an 8:10 pace) to finish out a 67 mile week. WOW, 67 miles, impressive.
The only bad part is that i’m really, really sore .. the run today wasn’t the greatest, I didn’t feel good the whole time but suffered through. I actually had to hold off a bit this morning due to a quick thunderstorm (and flashbacks from a week ago).. but I did get it in. My legs right now are still burning and real sore (thighs, calves, hips). I have skin contusions on both my hips, on the middle of my hips, my back and on the tops of my feet. Lots of Neosporin being used today in this house, I have to get them better …
So I expect to crank the miles up just a ‘bit’ more this week, before topping off with the same miles the following week and then starting the taper for the Lehigh Valley Marathon for VIA on September 7th. Its hard to think its almost taper time for the first of many fall marathons.
I’m off to rest and stretch, the body really needs it, another tough week is ahead.
