What is your measure?

measure

This past weekend I visited the town where I grew up.

It had been awhile since I had been there.

I had traveled the country & planted new roots several times since then.

I visited one place where I used to always stop & just dream and then another place where I reflected on life when I was struggling.

The experience made me to think about how I measured success.

But the method we use to measure success is very important.

If you find that you are constantly raising the bar for a level of success that we may not ever achieve, this is called reaching for the Ultimate Outcome.

When we do this, we are not able to see the tangible results of our efforts, and we are less likely to feel success.

Instead, focus on the Real Outcomes, which are the things we’ve actually achieved.
This method shows us tangible results.

When we compare our past Real Outcomes to our current Real Outcomes, we can better measure our progress and growth.

And feel the success we’ve achieved.

When we focus on the Ultimate Outcome, it causes us to continuously raise the bar to a level we may never achieve.

On my visit, I compared Real Outcomes.

And what a way to celebrate success in the things I’ve achieved.

How do you measure your success? Real or Ultimate?
