It seems that my first week of recovery in my triathlon training program has left me with sore knees, a sore back and a sore tailbone (no jokes please). Even though i’m supposed to be taking it easy, I still did the circuit workout with Stacey on Tuesday morning, which was just brutal .. we actually went 95 minutes on Tuesday, pretty much non-stop. We did these things called burpees, which alone aren’t bad, but we started doing 10 of them, then a lap, then up and down the steps .. then did 9 of them, a lap, stairs, then 8 and so on .. and it was hard, people were just dropping left and right. We then came off that and did 25 minutes of circuit exercises in 2 minute intervals, 35 minutes of bike intervals (3 minute bikes and 3 minute circuit) and then 30 sets of stairs. Somewhere in all that madness my left knee and back got sore and I didn’t even feel it until I hit the showers.
Thankfully all that pain went away on Wednesday after my swim and spin workout when my tailbone suddenly started to get sore. I’m thinking maybe the way my seat was positioned during my ride or something that caused it, its still actually kind of sore today still, so i’m not sure what up with it, but i’m hoping it starts to go away tomorrow. I didn’t have any trauma of any kind to it, so I’m not concerned about major injury, but its a little uncomfortable. At some point this week, I started out with shin splints which seems to have gone away for now until I start adding running miles this weekend, ugh, it never seems to stop.
So today I took off from anything, tomorrow I plan to take it easy with just a long swim and maybe some weights before I head into an easier weekend although i’m considering taking another circuit class on Sunday because its going to rain (can’t do it outside). Next week I ramp up the training time again as I enter the last 4 weeks before the Doylestown duathlon, so I need to rest up…
Thats all I have time for tonight, another update on the weekend.
