I’ve never been a big fan of January, the weather is so unpredictable and can knock your training for a ride. I got two good (but cold) days in on Monday and Tuesday, however with the freezing rain last night, everything was a total sheet of ice this morning, so I wasn’t going to take a chance on breaking my legs going outside.
So I stayed in and jumped rope and did some weight work … I came to the conclusion that I need to start rehabing my right shoulder that I injured last summer. If you recall, I strained my rotator cuff when I was pushing my car that broke down in late June, and haven’t been the same since. It doesn’t hurt really anymore, I just have no power and can’t lift my arm properly. I did some weight work on it and wow, is it sore now, i really aggravated it. Doing this type of workout doesn’t compare to running really, but it was better than nothing I guess.
Its unfortunate that i’ll miss my Saturday run too since I have to work, but thats the priority I guess .. I’ll try to get the miles in Sunday morning instead, at least its only January and I don’t need to do crazy miles right now. The goal is to build the base for the spring season .. and I think we’re on track.
I’ve been doing a lot better eating, not really cheating much, and everything I eat is low calorie, low (or no) fat, so I hope the weight continues to come off (even though the miles I’m running aren’t so high)..
I’ll check in again in a few days .. I still haven’t registered for any races as of yet for the spring, but hope to shortly, as soon as I lose a few more pounds…
