So with today being a day off from both running and from work, I found myself extremely bored so decided to go through my running shoe collection. If you recall I was recently alternating 2 pairs of New Balance 1061’s for my runs, but both of them got pretty beat up and I replaced them with New Balance 1223’s … My wife absolutely insisted that I get rid of another pair of shoes today, so I have to decide which one is worse …
Which one is worse? I just can’t tell … I think the orange ones are more beaten than the blue ones. If you notice, it appears that when I run, my heal hits first on the inside and gets worn out in comparison with the rest of the shoe. It burns out quick … guess this is why I need the new shoes. Its a difficult decision, but we’ll have to come to some conclusion I guess.
So I am heading to Connecticut for the holiday weekend to visit family, so it should add a unique twist to my last weekend of training before the marathon. I think I can still make it work running a shorter distance as long as I don’t get lost like I did during a different trip. I intend to get 14 in tomorrow, then maybe 4 on Sunday and then 8 on Monday since its Labor Day … that should set me up for the final days of running before the marathon .
I got one of the last emails from the race committee about packet pickup next weekend, and the excitement is mounting for the first race of the season! I just hope the weather cooperates .. although it doesn’t help that i’m continually watching it (and now the forecast shows rain, ugh), I just have to be hopeful that it won’t be a downpour for the race. I don’t mind rain, just no downpour. I remember the Swanzey Covered Bridges half marathon 2 years ago in the rain, it just kind of didn’t make for a good day ..
Well I guess I have to make my shoe decision before I get yelled at …
