Its kind of easy to tell that marathon season is almost upon me because because every run keeps getting easier, regardless of the distance. I shook up my schedule this week because we’re traveling to my in-laws at the end of the week, so over a 4 day period since Saturday, i’ve put in 57 miles and am still craving more although I have to rest today since my long run will actually be tomorrow. The end of the summer is coming soon, so i’m trying to get as many miles as I can in before it starts cooling off (if it does).
I took some time to read back on my blog to last year around this time, and I feel that i’ll be struggling with the same issue as last year, cutting back the miles. Its hard to not run as much as I am now, but I understand the importance of it… it was also interesting reading back to last year to see my thoughts as I headed into the season. Its almost time to reflect back on this training season as well, and see how far i’ve come.. I can remember some of the roadblocks, but not all of them, which is why I love keeping a blog.
So I plan to follow the same route as last week for my 22 miler, since I feel it worked for me. Its not supposed to be terribly warm, but I will still stay hydrated, keep my pace and stay fueled. I intend on getting a good nights sleep since i’ve taken a couple days of vacation, I won’t go back to work until Monday now, so I’ll start to rest up (although I have to travel).
As i’ve written time and time again, my biggest concern with this race season is my weight. I just didn’t lose the weight that I had in previous years, so thats the one thing that might affect me. I’m even fearful to jump on a scale, because I don’t even want to know how much I weigh, but it doesn’t matter because i’m running good, and thats what is important. Too many times we focus on an ideal weight and forget that its about how you look, feel and perform, not how much you weigh …
My updates might be scarce this weekend since i’m out of town, but stay tuned for how my out of town runs went …
