Recovered from the weekend

I thankfully have gotten over the issues I had on the weekend with my hips … it was funny how it played out that on Monday morning, I had actual bruises from my hip across the front of my body. They weren’t bad bruises, but it was definitely darker then anywhere else, and it was sore to the touch. It has subsided somewhat although during my 12 miler this morning, it did bother me and kept me from running as fast and hard as I would have liked.

Another thing that held me back somewhat was the RAIN .. yep, it poured for the entire 12 miles this morning. Its brutal running in the rain, but after the kind of weather I have had since June for all the training i’ve done, I can deal with a day of rain. Its supposed to finally cool off next week, so I know i’ll be complaining about the temperatures, but I head into the first week of taper for the marathon, so it shouldn’t be too bad.

Not too much else exciting is happening, except for my back and hip being a little sore, I think its my body’s way of telling me that the season is about over and its ready to start recovery. If you think about it, I’ve been going hard since the first week of June. And even before that I wasn’t really taking it easy or anything because if you look back, I was racing and everything or my ‘spring tour’ as I called it. It will be nice to scale back a little and condition myself for the winter months in prep for the spring racing season …. the change will be nice.

Well, enough about the winter, we still have 3 weeks until Harrisburg and 4 weeks until the Diamond run, so the seasons not over yet! On to better things!
