Today’s 20 miler really rocked, I mean really rocked … (did you ever think i’d say that I loved my 20 miler?) I ran it in under 3 hours, which made me come home and recalculate the distance to ensure that I didn’t run it short, but sure enough it came in at 20.3 (see for yourself by clicking here to see the route.

It was terribly cold though, and to add to it, I have been doing my weekend runs now in shorts, just to get used of the cold and start cutting away from the running tights for next weeks race .. the wind chill really was the thing that made it cold, the air temperature, and the sun beating down actually felt great, just that biting north wind. Either way I got through it with flying colors ..

So next weekend is the first race of the season .. at the beach. yeah, I know, going to the beach on the last weekend of March doesn’t sound too great, but I enjoy the experience, it gets me pumped for the summer, plus the fact that the first race sets the tempo for the rest of the year. Of course i’m only doing the 10 mile portion of the Ocean Drive Marathon because last year I really didn’t enjoy the full marathon, it just sucked after mile 11 (for multiple reasons). The goal is to get me pumped for the first marathon just 5 weeks later and I should be able to do 10 miles in less than 1:19:53, which was my original time when i ran the 10 miler 2 years ago..

So spring has finally sprung as they say, and i’m hoping the temperatures start to head upward now and the snow and all is gone. I’m planning to cancel my YMCA membership since I haven’t been there now in almost 2 months .. it was there when I needed it, but I don’t need it anymore! Why spend the money!

I guess its time to rest up for my 10 miler tomorrow (its easter tomorrow) .. so I know I need to get the miles in so that I can eat well tomorrow…
