Off to the diamonds …

So I haven’t written all week because there wasn’t much to say right now … I did get my first run in at the YMCA this week, so I’m prepared to start my morning workouts there again next week. My hamstring that was sore seems to have passed and my back is a little sore the last two days, but nothing really to worry about.

Today is Thanksgiving, and as in many past years, I’m off to the Run for the Diamonds in Berwick. This will be the 3rd year in a row running the 9 miler, which is a combination of uphill, downhill and straightaway. I enjoy the crowd support and thankfully the temperature is in the upper 50’s here today, believe it or not. Its supposed to cool off later in the day, but i’ll take the comfortable temperatures for the morning …

I’ll have to decide what I’m going to do on Sunday as far as racing … I may do the Jingle Bell Run, or do the more local race here right in Dallas. Or maybe I won’t do either, I guess its going to depend on how I feel… I’ve thankfully been able to keep my weight off for now, but I think thats going to change (i hope not). I expect to take it easy for the next 5-6 weeks, and then start base-building after the new year … I intend to condition though, hitting the weights and cross-training a bit during my ‘easy period’. Most importantly is to keep the intensity up, I know i’ll lose some fitness during the off-season, but if I can limit the amount that I lose, its even better. The important thing is to keep the weight off.

So not much more happening, still working on my racing schedule for the spring and next fall, so no update there. Still looking for the ideal marathon to run thats different, but not TOO far away …
