I was happy that I got out and got 30 miles in already this week, finishing up with a 12 miler yesterday before I decide to rest today. Its supposed to rain today and into tomorrow, so i’m not sure what that means for my last long run before Steamtown (which will be interesting)… depending on how some things work out, I may ‘miss’ Steamtown, but life is a little more important right now, so we’ll see what happens. Either way, we have the Marine Corps Marathon at the end of the month, so I think we’ll be okay if we miss one…
So speaking of rain, I collected two good stories on running in the rain from the web that I wanted to share, if you haven’t seen my story on running in the rain, maybe one of these stories will give you some humor and/or inspiration for your day ..
- When it rains, it force .. an interesting take on the rain
- Thoughts from the girl next door talks about running in Hurricane Hannah (which if you recall, I was worried about having an effect on the LVHM earlier in the month), its a good read.
My hope overall is that I don’t have to run in the rain tomorrow, but i’m not afraid of it if I do .. its not supposed to be terribly cold, at least not yet, so I think we’ll do fine. The one story I never really wrote about was the last long run before the Harrisburg marathon last year, where I ran in the pouring rain, i’m surprised I didn’t write more about that, but I always remember that day whenever it comes to running in the rain.
We’re going to start tapering next week for Steamtown, despite we don’t know what will be happening that weekend. The good news is that my running season might be getting longer as the months go on, more information coming up, stay tuned!
