I’ve returned from my trip to the Jersey Shore, and as promised, I got in just over 61 miles this week after getting 2 decent 8 milers in on the Wildwood boardwalk and beyond. I also walked probably 10 miles in the 3 days we were there (plus I ate like crap) .. so now comes the most important part of the training cycle..
I’ve got just over 6 weeks until the Lehigh Valley marathon in September, so I need to get 4 hardcore weeks in of hard training to do two things … a) get mentally ready, b) shed these pounds, c) build the miles .. So the first thing is to get back on my diet again, I mean seriously get on it again by logging what i’m eating. Second thing is to stick to my workouts and start getting some sleep … I can see how falling behind in my sleep can really effect me, so I need to make sure I get some Z’s ..
Lastly, is all attitude. Its time to start getting pumped and to start getting ready for the fall. I read through the blog last year at this time, and it was around the same time that I had a falling out, and needed an attitude adjustment, and the time is now. I think when i step on the scale tomorrow, it’ll get me going. July was rough with all the traveling, but August is my month as we prepare for September and the racing season … oh, and I need to register for Philly too, don’t I … 🙂
I hope to write more now since I’ve got my running spirit back. I ALMOST ran a race last night in North Wildwood, but decided against it since I was tired. It was actually on the beach (which I never did before), so it could’ve been good, but also could’ve been terrible (can you say, injury?) It was nice to watch it, but not participate this time, so we’ll save it for another day.
Well, off to get things going for the week and to get SERIOUS again! I can’t wait, this is the best time of year!

Late update, I’m doing a good job healing, the rips and tears around my waist from the fuel belt are healing, the shoulder is doing better … I did just stub my toe a few hours ago, and will lose a toenail on my left foot (that sucks) … One last thing that healed is I stepped on a root the other day with my right foot, hurt the bottom of my foot, but it went away … i’m feeling good, getting hopeful!
