Well its time to put the period at the end of 2007. I look back on my running for 2007 and have really had some ups and downs …. the year started with my downer in march at the ocean drive marathon, but finished on an upper with the harrisburg marathon and then the run for the diamonds, both major PR’s. I guess it goes to show you that it only takes a little willpower to accomplish your goals ..
So whats in store for 2008? well, I plan on trail running more and still intend on attempting the Finger Lakes 50K (just about 31 miles), along with completing a few marathons as well. I”m getting out of the local racing it seems, it just doesn’t interest me anymore because of the boring, lame people you have to deal with. It doesn’t mean I won’t run any, I’m just not going crazy with them, thats all.
Anyway, I hope to change pace a little with the trail running and maybe, just maybe, we’ll do a 50-miler. NOt sure though, only time will tell.
I’ve completed my recovery period since the holiday season is over now, and head into base building for the start of training in a few weeks. I have to register for my spring races, which is always the sign that its time to get serious again. On the agenda for the spring are the Pretzel City trail races (chilly cheeks, etc) and then ultimately the new jersey marathon on the first weekend of May. I plan on doing the 10-miler in Wildwood again this year, but not the marathon, I just didn’t like the marathon layout .. its a good short race and a nice weekend away as well.
Oh well, I’ve mapped out my training and just have to register now … it won’t be long until we’re back into it full-swing …
