I cranked out a great run today, even though its my ‘opt-out’ day. I generally do 4 miles or so, sometimes even 3 to 3.5, but today ended up doing 5 miles. It was something about the music I was listening to I guess. I had the ipod loaded with live Dave Matthews Band from 8/10/08 .. it sounded like a great show and it just kept me going and going, I didn’t want to stop. It goes to show you that good upbeat music helps out those rough runs.

Thankfully things are healing up from the weekend .. I complained of left calf pain, and groin pain which have both subsided at this point. I’m still generally sore, but thats expected with the number of miles I’m currently running. I was disappointed with my weigh-in this morning of 188, up a pound from last week (although I think last week was a little off due to dehydration). I admit I haven’t been eating well, I’m addicted to Lucky Charms cereal, its really sad. In addition I’ve been eating pizza and ice cream as well (probably more than I should be) .. its good to know i’m not putting weight on, think about the effects of my bad diet if I wasn’t running so much.

So the heat is expected to return this week, and its possible that this weekend might be a wet one if Hurricane Fay makes its way up the coast. They’re saying maybe Saturday, or Sunday .. reminds me of running in the downpours last November prior to Harrisburg! Oh well. Back to the heat ….. the morning temperatures this week in the northeast are expected to creep into the mid 60’s from what they say, but they are generally wrong, especially since i’m in a rural area … i’ll just have to be sure to keep hydrated if it is …

I have to remember to order shoes this week sometime so I have them in time to break them in .. I got a weird mailing from Road Runner sports telling me that my favorite shoe (the New Balance 1062) is being discontinued! ACK! They just finished discontinuing the New Balance 1061????? I wonder what the replacement model will be .. I really need that shoe. I found that after running in Asics Gel Nimbus’s for awhile that I need a larger toe box so I don’t keep getting black toenails, so they recommended the 1061’s, GREAT SHOE! AWESOME! The black toenails stopped as soon as I switched …. Now, I can’t get the shoe, or its replacement? I’m not happy however we’ll have to check the website for more information though to either confirm or deny what i’ve read ..
