I certainly earned my day off from working out again this week. I am on target to hit 40+ miles this week as long as the weekend holds out .. thankfully it appears the weather is going to warm up to more seasonable conditions, which will help my efforts. Yesterday it was quite cold here in the Lehigh Valley, but it didn’t stop me from getting 4 miles in. I did compensate for the fact that I knew it would be cold by getting 2 6-milers in on Tuesday and Wednesday to make up for the shortage of miles yesterday. Its good that i’m thinking ahead nowadays instead of making excuses on why I can’t run.
This weekend I plan on getting a 13 miler in, basically the half marathon distance, which is a good sign that i’ll be okay for the Lehigh Valley half in May. The question now is whether I can continue to train the miles up so I can register for the Delaware marathon later in May. I’m still on target for that as long as everything keeps going the way it is … and i’m hopeful it will.
I’m feeling better about my weight also, I did step on the scale yesterday for some reason and it shows i’m down 3 pounds from where I was last week, although i’m not sure I trust the scale so much anymore. I recall back from years past that its not always about the ‘number’ I come in at, its the way I feel. Reading back a few weeks, I was feeling fat and bloated, and I now don’t have that feeling anymore. My body feels energized as if my metabolism has picked up a notch … hopefully it will continue.
Lastly, i’m working hard to not get sick right now .. my daughter and a few people from work are sick with head colds, so I resorted to my old friend “Airborne” to help keep me well. I’m back to taking my multivitamins and vitamin C, but now a few Airborne each day I know had done me well previously, so i’m hoping it keeps me well until they get better…
Its time to rest and prepare for a lot of miles this weekend, I can’t wait since the weather will actually not be frigid!
