As I wrote the other day, I intend to get a whole lot of miles in before leaving for the Jersey shore tomorrow morning. So far i’ve done pretty good in getting 35 miles so far since Monday, with the intention to get maybe 10-12 miles in tomorrow morning before we leave .. It was kind of rough today doing 20 miles, its the first 20-miler in almost 3 weeks. The humidity is killing me yet again (hence the title of this post) … i’m in the strange habit of weighing myself after I get back to see how much water weight i’ve lost during the run. Well I weighed myself on Monday night, I was 190, this morning after my run, back to 179 … cool, I lost 11 pounds during the run, plus I drank 64oz of water during the run. cool.

I guess thats nothing to brag about since the last 4 miles of the run were brutal .. i can tell i’m not in as good a shape as I was (or it could be i just did 12 miles the day before). Regardless, I know i’ll have a tough 4 weeks in August getting ready for the first marathon of the season .. i know i’ll get through. My time today was just over 3 hours, which the last time I ran the same course, it was 2:55, so i’ve lost a bit.

I am kind of banged up, and I need to find a way (without a stepback week) to get myself better, here is the list of ailments …

1. sore rotator cuff (still from my car fiasco a month ago)
2. TIRED, just TIRED … I think if I start going to bed earlier and sleeping a bit later, I might be okay.
3. My left hammy is a little sore, its been like that all week. I’ve been taking it easy on it (not pushing it) because I don’t want to pull it.
4. I had a blister on the back of my right foot from yesterday that got all bloody .. I tried this morning to put a big bandaid on so it wouldn’t continue to bleed, but it did. My nice white shoes are all covered with blood in the back, its cool (not as cool as when I blew a toenail last year)
5. I’m chaffed all around my waist from my fuel belt .. its tough when its so hot (and i’m sweaty) to keep it from rubbing the wrong way. I’m all ripped up.

In addition, I need to look for some new gear .. the Stilleto is dead, my fuel belt needs to be replaced (bottles don’t stay in anymore) and my shorts have shrunk (yeah, its funny).

Ugh, too much to do, not enough time to do it… I checked back a year ago this time to see how I was doing and I was at the same point in the training. Tired. I wasn’t motivated, not eating great, etc, but got myself back on track. I think I can do it again this year, actually, I know I can… its just going to take some work.
