This week has thrown me for a loop a bit since I really had no rest from my long miles this weekend. Since I have the Bernies Memorial race on Wednesday (tomorrow, July 4th), I had to modify my training to fit a 3-4 miler in on a Wednesday, so I decided to do my Tuesday 6-miler on Monday and my Wednesday 9-miler on Tuesday, so I’ve done like 37 miles in 4 days, thats a lot, the legs are feeling it. I’m concerned at this point about injury since I am really sore, so I need to take it easy tomorrow with the race and all, then finish up the week on Thursday with a SHORT recovery run. I may not hit my miles in full this week (51?), but I have to watch what I’m doing to avoid injury, the body is telling me to slow down!

I found another thing interesting in that I seem to be putting on weight instead of losing weight. Its hard to think with the added miles, and the actual cut back I did on unhealthy foods, that I am still gaining. I was up to 198 this morning, which is up from 197 last week. I really thought I was doing the right things here to keep the weight off, i’m just surprised. THe only thing I can really think is that maybe the additional muscle i’m building from the miles is throwing things off a little … or the fact that I still consume a ton of ice cream at night. Actually, i haven’t been as bad with the ice cream either, and thats even been a constant throughout all of training (and for years back), I don’t really think thats it. We’ll have to see I guess.

I was able to take my mind off the run this morning by thinking about all the turmoil in my life right now. I’m really not thrilled at work (bored) and contemplating what I should do … To be honest, this getting up at 4:30 every morning is starting to catch up with me I think. It used to be that I would get up and get energized and out the door I go ….. now I really have to push myself to get out of bed, get dressed and get out the door. I’m not sure what this means.

On another note, I was very distraught in the weather we’re having here in the northeast. It was downright cold yesterday morning, and almost as cold this morning for my run, maybe that is helping contribute to my issues, I dunno. On July 2, it was 45 degrees in the morning, and this morning (july 3), it was 47 degrees … thats just not right. I had a long sleeve shirt on both days and my hands were cold, it felt like April again, its just not right!

My legs (actually my hips) are really sore … not painful sore, just achey sore I guess. They’ve been that way for a few days now, i’m hoping it subsides soon.

Not too much else to say, less than 15 weeks to go until Steamtown, and just about 20 weeks until Harrisburg ….. that reminds me, I have to make my hotel reservation for Harrisburg, I don’t want to forget. I hate when you can’t book online and I actually have to call someone, it sucks. Oh well.
