I was welcomed this morning with a torrential downpour and thunderstorm about a half an hour before I was supposed to get up and do my 10 miler today. I really wasn’t sure if I was going to get it in or not, but thankfully the rain and the storm passed on. I did encounter a shower while I was out on the road, but it was nothing to worry about. I did take precaution though, in wearing my hat, and ‘lubing’ up to ensure I didn’t chafe anywhere in case it rained. It was also nice because I didn’t take my Stiletto with me either, again because of the rain.
It certainly feels like its time for a stepback week, I am getting increasingly tired with every day I get up, I think I need the rest. I am surprised that my body is feeling pretty good and getting used to the mileage day in and day out, so I think i’m well on my way to being ready for the marathons in the fall.
I expect to head out for new shoes on Friday, and possibly a new hydration belt, we’ll see. I am working on calculating my saturday route so I can ensure that I hydrate properly in my long run based on my recent findings. Its not supposed to be quite as warm as its been, so it may not be too bad, but I still don’t want to take the chance. I would really like to go into my stepback week with a strong finish … it always helps.
