I wrote earlier in the week that I had to get minor sinus surgery today, which went fine, i’m still here (obviously), however it put me out, and will probably put me out tomorrow at least as well. I can’t breath through my nose and I have to wait for the drainage to stop before I can really do much. I didn’t even goto work today, instead working from home (I am one of the few who ACTUALLY WORK when I’m at home) ..
Regardless, the procedure was more than I expected .. as I wrote in previous blog entries throughout the past two years, I have been suffering from acute sinusitis, so after returning from San Francisco in November, I decided to finally see an ENT guy about it. He had me xrayed, cat-scanned, etc and found that my right maxillary sinus is 2/3 full of fluid… and it wasn’t going away after 3 weeks. So the plan was to go in, cut a hole and drain the fluid manually. He also wanted to try to determine whether I had blockage in there or not (from a cyst, or a polyp or something). He ultimately drained me, fixed an air pocket in my upper nose and fixed my deviated septum…. so the recovery was a bit more than I thought it would be….
So we’re out a few days, but its a good time for it to happen, its not mid-training season at least. A couple days rest, and we’ll be back better than other, and we’ll be able to breath! I can’t wait.
The doctor did a great job though … thumbs up to him!
