I haven’t written all week but have recovered about 85-90% from my surgery last Thursday. It felt great to get that packing pulled out of my sinuses, I guess it was like giving birth (ok, bad analogy) .. regardless, I was able to get back to running in the gym on Tuesday and was working out well through Thursday until I tweaked my hamstring again. I guess it never dawned on me that I hadn’t worked out in 5 days and that I shouldn’t go out so fast. Well, I’m not down for the count, but I certainly strained something in my left hammy.
So I sit here now, wrapped with heating on my hamstring and intending to get to the gym tomorrow to keep my cardio up. I probably won’t run the weekend with the injury just to let it heal as best as I can, but i need to stay loose.
I’m not sure what this is going to do to my racing plans either, I won’t be able to do the Chilly Cheeks on Sunday, even though I paid for it already. I was not considering doing it before I injured myself just due to the fact I had the surgery and my nose is totally raw and the cold isn’t going to be good for it. Oh well, maybe next time.
Hopefully I can get back to some serious running next week sometime and try to get back on track here. I feel like I did last year at this time falling totally off the wagon with running, but I know I can still salvage the spring if I keep the right attitude. My wife decided to get surgery in 3 weeks, so i’m not sure what that will mean to my running either, I dunno, guess it will be hard to predict.
