So i’ve kicked it back up a notch and headed full force back into training … After missing 2 straight long runs, first due to my surgery, then second due to a strained hamstring, I got out for just 11 miles yesterday and am really sore today. I plan to get back out for another 6 today since it’ll be slightly warmer out (well, in contrast I guess). I then intend to push the miles up in an attempt again to run the OD marathon if I can pull it together. I laid out my training plan to get a bunch of 20 milers in come February/Early March, but its all going to depend on both the weather and the recovery time my wife needs for her knee (But I can probably get weekend babysitters).
I did take the time to read back yesterday in the blog to see my true feelings on the OD marathon and am still taking it in stride. I realize that i just wasn’t prepared for it last year, and I don’t plan on registering for it this year until I know for sure that i can get the training in. Maybe the weather won’t be quite so bad, but maybe it will be, or maybe it will be worse, we’ll just have to see.
Regardless, the YMCA is working out good this year, along with getting some time outside, although my nose is VERY sensitive to the cold. I know when I headed out yesterday, the first mile and a half, I had tears in my eyes and my nose actually throbbed for awhile it was so cold, but again, after warming up, it wasn’t quite so bad.
So I hope to be on track again, we’ll see how it goes.
