I made the commitment to really get serious now since i’m just 10 short weeks away from my first marathon of the season. I’m thankful now that I didn’t register for the OD marathon again, because I never would have made it. I managed to get in 44 miles this week, cranking out my first 14 miler since November, and it sure felt like it. I did my 8 miler today, which wasn’t quite as bad, but I really feel how badly out of shape I really am.
One fortunate thing is that i’m keeping my weight down, which will help me in the long run. I also got out and RAN in the cold regardless of how cold it really was. I think on Thursday morning it was around 9 degrees, but I still got out. I figure that if I keep up the miles, once the weather turns it will make it even easier to finish off the training.
So I am committed and am gearing up for yet another week of cold and rainy running (no snow scheduled though). I hope to get my 16 miler in next weekend without any hitches, but we’ll have to see.
So all is well in February, ON TO MARCH! SPRING IS COMING!!!
