finding my motivation …

Somewhere in the last couple posts I spoke about losing my motivation and having to get back on the wagon … well, I found that getting angry is the best way to get the blood moving again and get myself on track … I had an excellent weekend of running and kicked things into gear … i’m back on my diet, running better than ever ..

I had to split my long run up into 2 separate runs on Saturday since i was busy, and did great on the first one, however by the time I got back out for the second run, it was WAY TOO HOT! I did well for the first 5 but died on the second half, and worse yet, I chose to do the back mountain trail to Luzerne and back as part of the course and ‘forgot’ that its all uphill coming back. I paid for it.

Regardless, I made it up on Sunday, and had an excellent 12 miler. I had a good pace and was smart enough to carry water. Probably the biggest issue over the weekend is the heat and humidity, I really was badly dehydrated, and continue to be dehydrated even now .. I can tell because I stepped on the scale after consuming a ton of fluids and am still 7 pounds lighter than on Thursday… I’m good with my detox diet, but not that good..

So this week offers me a bit of change as we get down to the last 6 weeks before the Lehigh Valley Marathon on 9/8. We’re heading to the beach at the end of the week, and I love running in Wildwood, it reminds me of the Ocean Drive 10-miler and marathon .. plus its flat, its no effort at all. Prior to that though, I intend to run almost 40+ miles in 3 days so I don’t have to run too hard in Wildwood, we’ll see if that works or not ..

Thats about it for now, no major update except the shoulder is getting better, day by day, and DRINK YOUR FLUIDS! I’m not sure what the weather will be on 9/8, it could really be hot, but it can also be cool … (i’d rather it cool believe it or not).

Enough for now … cya
