lacking motivation today?

I have to admit that I started the week out a little non-motivated … i’m not sure why. My easy 4 miler on Monday was just that, easy and refreshing.. but this morning when I headed out, I just didn’t feel like running, I just felt blah. Its amazing how little things along the way can seriously motivate you again .. I won’t get into specific detail as to what motivated me, but the fact I was suddenly running with a large group of other people as I finished the course, really motivated me and I rocked the last part of the 8 mile course by running a less than 8 minute mile, actually finished in 1:02. It really felt good, plus I don’t think i’ve ever done that route in that time before.

I’m not sure what is contributing to my motivation problem, and i’m not entirely sure that its gone in full, but I got through the run I needed to get through I guess. Tomorrow will be a shorter mid-week long run (if that makes sense), I think its either 10 or 12 miles instead of the regular 14 miles I have been doing. Then we really start to cut the miles and heal ourselves up later on in the week and we head into race week..

I was surprised as I stepped on the scale on Monday to see that i’m up to 191 again. I guess all the pizza, ice cream, etc. isn’t helping anything, but I am running good, so thats really all that is important. I’m up quite a few pounds from both the spring and the fall of last year, although i’m generally in better physical and mental condition now. Its all relative I guess .. everyone always told me that I looked TOO THIN (i hate that), now thats not the case, I just have a runners build now. I am going to be a little more cautious on what I eat this week, and stay away from the fatty foods and focus on the good foods .. I am generally just eating ALOT of cereal .. which is good .. but just weird that this is the thing I crave…

I just realized that Labor Day is next week already, the summer is for the most part gone … gosh, it’ll be Christmas time before we know it and i’ll be heading out into the COLD once again (I certainly hope the mild temperatures continue). This morning it got down to like 50 degrees again, if not lower, and its August, I just don’t understand this weather. The long range forecast for our region over the next couple of months (fall) is for average to above average temperatures, but how do they really calculate that? I’ll just go with the flow I guess and see what happens .. i’m not afraid of the cold or the hot, I just want to have a ‘nice’ race day on September 7th and work from there …
