As I continue through the taper week, I found myself running 8 miles today at a pretty intense pace. I remember that as I taper and am cutting the miles back, that I remember to keep the intensity up. I did the run in less than 1:02, which when I calculated it, I was running an under 8 minute mile for most of the run, even the beginning, I was surprised because it usually takes some time for me to get into the pace.
So as I got to mile 7, I started to notice my right foot getting a little sore, kind of like it did on Saturday, however not as bad. I was absolutely stumped … thankfully I was just about done with the run, but it has me concerned for the race this weekend. It may have been because I was pushing the pace, I guess I won’t really know until Sunday when I’m running the race, and you know me, i’ll run through the pain even though I shouldn’t. I do intend to get another 8 miler tomorrow and then wrap the week up with 3-4 miles Thursday, then the same on Saturday before traveling to Allentown for the race… My hope is that after tomorrow, the foot will get a good few days to rest up (along with the rest of me) before the race on Sunday ….
If you read my post on the amount of cereal I have been eating, I have now given up Fruity Pebbles… I was addicted, I mean totally. I was eating WAY TOO MUCH of them, so I had to stop… I did buy Honey Nut Cheerios instead since I do like cereal and they are good, but not addicting like the Fruity Pebbles are. I realize now that I have to try to cut out the crap as I head into the race, and I don’t think that cereal is helping based on the amount of it that I eat. I’m otherwise eating pretty good, lots of carbs, but formal carb loading will start on Thursday … with TONS of water, again (I hate drinking tons of water).
Speaking of water, the remnants of Hurricane Hanna is expected to be in town Friday into Saturday as it currently stands .. even though it may not hit on Sunday for the marathon, which would be a blessing, the fact that the course is more than 1/2 being cinder/tow trail, it might lead to a messy run .. you know, puddles, etc. Depending on the actual surface and how well its maintained, it may not be a problem, but we’ll have to wait and see.. As long as the race isn’t in the downpour and wind, it’ll make me happy, but we’ll run it either way.
I think I’ve got the new format for the blog complete now after yesterdays upgrade, I just have some more cool features to add to it, which will come in time. The upgrade definitely helped with the Google searches, I was finding that Google wasn’t quite indexing things properly and pointing people to the right pages, I hope it’s fixed moving forward from here …
