I was disappointed as I headed out today for my 6 miler (post-marathon) because I started to feel the same pain in my quadriceps that I felt after the Lehigh valley Hospital Marathon .. its not as bad (yet) but I can see it getting worse. The weird thing is that it was fine yesterday when I ran, so I don’t know what the deal is. My feeling is that its just that my quads are really beat up from the hills and the race, and its overcompensating. If you recall from last month, the pain went away in a few days, so I don’t intend to push it at all so i don’t injure myself prior to the Marine Corps Marathon, which at this point i’m still running.
So with the hope that all the changes in life have finally settled, its time to decide on the last marathon of the season .. I still have a room reservation for the Philly marathon, but haven’t yet registered, i’m just waiting for an email or a phone call before registering. Worst case I can run Harrisburg again if I have to, and I think i’ll schedule the Run for the Diamonds just because its Thanksgiving..
I got the email today that pictures from the Steamtown marathon are posted at Run Photos website. My pictures aren’t anything to jump up and down about, but I did get a humorous shot taken of me about 5 minutes after I finished, with my medal in front of the flag. There’s nothing like seeing a totally dehydrated, sweaty, stinky, ready to pass out runner standing in front of a flag… it was funny because I was pure white, no color at all .. (note that I hadn’t had anything besides a little bit of water at that point). Anyway, my course pic’s and finish pic’s turned out pretty good, i’ll post them soon…
So i’ll take it easy tomorrow as I run to let my leg heal so I don’t have to be out of action … it won’t be easy, but I’ll manage..
