So i’ve put off registering for races for long enough … I decided that a spring marathon is probably not going to be feasible unless I really kick it into gear (mainly lose weight), so I am settling for doing to the Ocean Drive 10-miler and the Lehigh Valley half-marathon. Depending on how things go weather-wise, we ‘might’ be able to get a late May marathon in, we’ll just have to see.

Its been a pretty cold week, but my motto for the spring is now “NO EXCUSES”. I realized last weekend when I got on the scale that i’ve been doing nothing but making excuses to not run or to train hard. I kicked it up a notch this week with my new motto along with doing longer and more intense workouts .. granted I didn’t lose a lot of weight, but I know it takes time to get the weight off, I really have to get the miles up first. A few years back I wrote about the need to ‘earn’ my day off, well this week I did. I drug my butt out of bed at 5:10 each morning, put in at least 5 miles a morning, lifted weights, jumproped, ate good … man I was beat today!

Now that I have some races in the distance to live up to (and spent the money), I know that it will help. I expect to try and get in at least the Lehigh Valley Hospital marathon again this year in September, but again, we’ll have to see how it goes.

With the weather being nice tomorrow morning at least, i hope to get 10-11 miles in … i’m excited that its not going to be 10 degrees out, i might actually wear shorts, we’ll have to see…

So we’re on the right course now, i’ll write more over the weekend …
