I got a good chuckle this morning while I was running after a brief coating of snow fell last night .. I caught a view of about 5 or 6 sets of footprints in the snow, all going different directions (this was all before 6am this morning), it was kind of cute to see little tracks in the snow (kind of like being in the woods and seeing deer tracks).. guess i’m not the only dedicated runner who gets out early ..
So I was happy to complete my first 40 mile week last week, even having a difficult weekend with family in town and all. I got through a cold 12 miler on Saturday, same course as last week with a little more twist to it and then got just over 7 miles in on Sunday. The distance didn’t seem to bother me so much, it was just the cold … yeah, yeah, I know .. get on a treadmill. Well, I can’t deal with 12 miles on a treadmill, i’m not sure how anybody can. I would rather freeze my ‘you-know-whats’ off then suffer on the treadmill (i almost did freeze them off).
I’ve had a pretty strong week so far although the cold will kick in as I wrap up the week .. but good news is on the horizon. I saw the 2 week outlook, and the temperatures are expected to get warmer, so i’m getting excited. I still need to work on getting more weight off, oh yeah, I didn’t tell the story I don’t think….
So if you read back, you’ll see that i’ve been working SO hard in the last two weeks to lose a pound or so a week, and have kicked up my workouts, done much better on my diet and all the little things that go with it. I get on the scale last Friday, BOOM, up 1 pound from the previous week! I almost died! I then remembered that its not always about a number on a scale, its how I feel and how I look .. and i’m getting there. I am lifting weights now, which is going good, and as my body adjusts, the weight will come off, I just have to be patient.
Speaking of lifting weights, I’m thrilled that my rotator cuff injury from last June is finally doing better since i’ve been working out on it. It never really healed right because I didn’t do the rehab on it like I should have, and then it just started bothering me here and there and I KNOW I had to do something with it. So finally its feeling better, although a little achey, its doing well.
Hopefully we’ll hit 40+ miles this week, i’m being hopeful .. the OD 10-miler is only a few weeks off! I’m feeling more confident about maybe doing Delaware at the end of May .. if I can keep the training and intensity up, i’ll be in great shape!
